Trichotillomania is one of the most common conditions we encounter in our Solihull salon. Despite this – and the fact that around 350,000 people in the UK are suspected to suffer from it – one of the most difficult things about this condition is how isolating it feels.

If you suffer from Trich, you've likely been in the lonely position of trying to get your doctor, your hairdresser, or your loved ones to understand your compulsion to pull – even when you don't fully understand it yourself.

The lack of understanding around Trichotillomania can lead many women to try and hide their hair-pulling, perpetuating their struggles and leading to feelings of shame.

That's not the case in our Solihull salon. Here, you'll find sympathetic staff who understand the complexities of Trich. They've helped dozens of women who've been in your same shoes, experiencing similar emotions. At Lucinda Ellery, we offer both practical and emotional support – and we'll continue to do so throughout your Trichotillomania journey.

Transformations we make for our clients can range from subtle to dramatic

Putting a stop to the pull...

Helping women who pull has been a part of the Lucinda Ellery story for decades, since Lucinda – who dedicated her career to empowering women through hair loss after experiencing Alopecia Areata – met her first client with Trichotillomania.

Lucinda realised that the Intralace System™ she'd developed prevented women with Trich from pulling. The base of the Intralace is a mesh that threads through your natural hair; it blocks your access to the roots of the hair you'd pull, acting as a barrier. If you pull subconsciously, it also reminds you what you're doing, so it's a useful reinforcement of the habit-breaking techniques that are so effective in treating Trich.

...While keeping you looking good

One of the most difficult things about Trichotillomania is coping with its physical effects: bald patches, thin and damaged hair, or larger-scale hair loss. Not only does the Intralace System™ prevent you from pulling, it completely disguises the consequences.

Unlike traditional wigs, the Intralace doesn't need to be removed for sport, swimming, or sleeping. You can wear it 24/7, and you can even wash, brush and style it as you would your natural hair.

As well as breaking the cycle of Trich, the Intralace System™ gives our clients a welcome break from their anxiety. You won't have to worry about hiding your hair loss or fighting the impulse to pull, and your visits to the salon will have the luxurious feel of self-care you enjoyed before your symptoms started.

Unless your hair has been permanently damaged, it will begin to recover with time. During your visits to the Solihull salon, our experts will assess regrowth and advise on the appropriate next steps: whether to reapply the Intralace, or whether a lighter option should be progressed to.

Anyone who has lived with Trichotillomania knows that it isn't as simple as deciding to stop. Life's upheavals can trigger relapses that feel like setbacks. If this happens, we'll be there for you; the Intralace can also be reapplied at any time. But don't underestimate the power of confidence. The boost in self-esteem and increased awareness of their impulses has helped many of our clients to handle the twists and turns that once made their Trich so unpredictable and hard to control.
