Edinburgh Studio - Topper Alternatives
The Intralace and Intralace Minima - a better alternative to human hair toppers for women
Our full-size Intralace Hair Replacement Systems are often compared with wigs, and in the same way the Intralace Minima and the smaller versions of the Intralace System can be compared to toppers. The crucial difference in both cases is that the Intralaces are integrated with your own hair - which has several advantages.
The problem with toppers
Toppers come in many forms and sizes - from small hair pieces to cover a thinning crown to much larger ones which are almost full-blown wigs. To keep them in place they use clips, and this is where things start to get difficult. Many women find these clips difficult to position in a way that looks natural while being comfortable and secure. They also worry that the clips, being attached directly to their own hair, may cause strain and further hair loss.
Look at Youtube and you'll find lots of videos about how best to put them on, and from the large number of views this is clearly an issue for a lot of people. How many hours are spent in front of mirrors adjusting toppers before going out?
With the Intralace Systems none of that is necessary, whether for smaller patches of loss or for more substantial ones, they are connected with your own hair via a micro-fine mesh and stay on your head 24/7 - doing away with all that fiddling with clips and worrying about whether you've got everything aligned properly. The mesh spreads the weight of the additional hair so there's less strain on your own hair. Our stylists make sure everything looks great when it's fitted and adjust anything that's changed due to your own hair growing at the maintenance visits ever six weeks or so. You can save all that time and start enjoying having a full head of hair again.
Regular maintenance at home is much easier too - no need to spend time cleaning and untangling a topper after it's got dusty on a wig-stand or been lying in a drawer. An Intralace gets washed and conditioned in the shower just as you would normally. It's simply part of your hair and not an add-on.
Suitable for a fully active lifestyle
Many women stop being as active if they have to wear toppers. With an Intralace or Minima you can continue with an active lifestyle without having to worry that a topper might move or become dislodged in the wind when riding a bike or jogging. Even swimming or team sports are perfectly feasible.
An example of the type of transformation we can provide for our lovely Edinburgh clients
Suitable for smaller areas of hair loss
Our larger Intralace Systems are normally required for larger areas of loss or overall thinning. The smaller versions and the Intralace Minima are suitable for smaller patches of hair loss for which toppers are often considered. We also have special hair partings, which can have either a conventional hairline or a fringe.
Custom made to suit you
We've been creating hair replacement systems for around 40 years, and in Edinburgh since 2012. Each Intralace System or Minima is custom made for each client, so the solution matches the problem. We color match the additional hair with your own colour and add highlight so that it's as natural looking as possible and undetectable to anyne else. We use 100% human hair of the highest quality, and can customise hair texture too - including naturally curly Brazilian virgin hair too. And of course your Intralace or Minima will be styled to your preference by our Edinburgh professional hair loss stylists.
Your own hair keeps growing
The Intralace and Minima don't prevent hair growth, and they don't do any further damage. Maintaining as much of your own hair as possible in a healthy condition is our top priority. Continued growth does mean that there will need to be some readjustment every few months at our studios but that is the only maintenance other than keeping your new hair well conditioned.
