Hair loss during and after pregnancy

During pregnancy, you can experience a whole host of symptoms ranging from water retention to mood swings to hair loss. All of these symptoms are perfectly normal whilst you are pregnant and they are often as a result of the change in hormones that is occurring in your body.

When you are having a baby, it is a really stressful time for your body. There is a lot going on inside and your body is having to work overtime to ensure that you are able to cope with your day to day activities as well as ensuring that the baby that you are carrying is safe and healthy.

Once you have given birth, there is another change in hormones in your body and this is another time when you are more likely to experience some form of hair loss. Your hair is extremely reactive to the hormones in your body and this is why you experience hair loss. However for most women the hair loss that they suffer after giving birth is only temporary and it is not something that you need to worry yourself about. You will need to concentrate your efforts on looking after your new baby and ensuring that you provide everything that your baby needs.
